YOUNGSTOWN — Mary Anne “Magaw” Kaso, 84, passed away suddenly Monday, May 17, 2021, at the Manchester Center for Rehabilitation and Healing in Manchester, Tenn.
She was born Dec. 13, 1936, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Stephen and Mary E. Uhren Mokri.
Mary was a 1954 graduate of Chaney High School and attended AIB Banking School. She became a banker for 21 years with Dollar and Society Bank. She also worked for Austintown Medical Center for nine years, for Dr. Victor Kuchmaner, DC, for three years, and Dr. Dan Handle, dermatologist, for three years.
Mary was a member of St Joseph Church for 48 years before moving to Tennessee. In her spare time, she volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House, Hands on Volunteering and was a trustee of West Hampton Condo Association. Mary enjoyed spending time with friends from the GM Breakfast Group and the Class of ’54 Breakfast Group. She also loved all the wonderful people at the Senior Center of Youngstown. Mary always made time to do her crafts, go dancing, travel and, most importantly, spend time with her grandsons.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Kim (Gary) Hoelzel of Tennessee, and two grandsons, Colin Hoelzel of Youngstown and Conner Hoelzel of Boston.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Kaso, whom she married May 14, 1960, and who passed away Jan. 10, 2008.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at noon Thursday at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.
Family and friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon at the funeral home. The family requests that everyone dress casual for this celebration.
