Thomas Gioglio

Cleveland, Ohio - A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date celebrating the life of Thomas "Tommy" Gioglio, 76, who passed away early Tuesday morning, August 4, 2026.

Tom was born November 21, 1949, in Youngstown, the son of the late Angelo H. and Helen L. (Detell) Gioglio. He was a graduate of Ursuline High School, class of 1967. Tommy moved from Youngstown after high school and worked in the services industry in California and Florida.

He worked as a waiter and also as a caddy in those areas for most of his career meeting new and exciting people along the way. He served and got to know many famous people over the years. While living in California, Tom practiced and became an Aikido instructor.

While working in San Francisco, Tom met a fellow Youngstown native, Fr. Tim O'Neill, and sharing a love for people and golf, they quickly became close friends. Tom would come home often to visit family and would always make sure that Father O'Neill was part of his trip. As Fr. O'Neill's health began to fail, Tom moved back to the area to help take care of him.

After Fr. O'Neill's passing, Tom continued his career of serving others as a waiter and caddy in Ohio in the summer months and in Florida in the winter months. Tom moved back to the Cleveland area in the last few years to be closer to family and friends. In addition to his love of golf, Tom was also a life-long Bob Dylan fan.

Tom leaves to cherish his memory a sister, Janice Nemergut of Boardman, a niece Kris Kohuth and her husband Bill of Boardman, a nephew, Scott Nemergut and his wife Allison of Hermosa Beach, California, three great nephews, Michael Kohuth of Diamond, Jake Kohuth of Boardman, and Brady Nemergut of Hermosa Beach, California, Brother-in-law Joe Nemergut of Youngstown, as well as many cousins.

A graveside memorial service will be held at Belmont Park Cemetery at a later date.
