Theresa Berg

August 25, 1947 — October 15, 2025

POLAND — Theresa “Terri” Berg, 78, passed away in the comfort of her home in the early hours Wednesday morning, Oct. 15, 2025, with her husband and children by her side and surrounded by the love of family and friends.

She was born Aug. 25, 1947, in Youngstown, a daughter of Crescenzio “Christy” Morrone and Ninetta “Ann” Casasanto Morrone.

Theresa was a “West Side girl” and a 1965 graduate of Chaney High School. After high school, Theresa went to Choffin Nursing School and became a licensed practical nurse (LPN). She was an amazing nurse and difference-maker for all the patients and families she served and cared for throughout her nursing career of over 40 years. She had many fond memories working at St. E’s Main in the emergency department and was deeply blessed and loved by all the residents and their families during her years at the Greenbriar, both at the health care center and assisted living as the director of nursing.

“Terri” was a very good friend to many and was a helper in so many ways for so many people throughout her life. She always surrounded herself with amazing women in her life who often became more like sisters and family than friends – sharing late night coffee talks to keeping life real and appreciating life’s simple joys. She loved to bake, from buckeyes and rolled pizzelles to pumpkin rolls and chocolate chip cookies.

Terri was undeniably an avid sports fan throughout her adult life. She cheered on and supported all her children and grandchildren through their various sports endeavors, armed with her milk jugs, cow bell and loud voice – she was their biggest cheerleader. She also loved watching her Pittsburgh Steelers and, more importantly, the Kansas City Chiefs and her “boyfriend,” Patrick Mahomes.

Theresa was grounded in her faith and was a parishioner of Holy Family Church. She deeply loved the Oblate Sisters and was a member of their ladies auxiliary club. She was also a member of the Ohio Nurses Association throughout her professional career. In retirement, she found joy in playing bunco and looked forward to the monthly lunch gatherings with a wonderful group of women.

Above all, Theresa’s greatest joy and purpose was her family. She selflessly cared for others, always putting their needs before her own – from caring for her parents to creating special memories with her grandchildren and everything in between. She gave 150% to everything and everyone, whether as a wife, mother, homemaker, friend and nurse. She always made sure her kids had everything they needed and was intentional about home cooked meals, clean laundry and a put-together home.

After her children grew and started to have families of their own, her grandchildren became the light of her life. They brought her joy that words could not express. They loved her JELL-O jigglers, her playful spirit and family game nights! She even became a master sock matcher and laundry folder in her retirement years. The love she gave was boundless and deeply felt. Terri was immensely proud of the family she and her husband built and the values they instilled. For her, family was the heart of everything – and she lived that truth every day.

Theresa is survived by her loving and supportive husband of 50 years, John C. Berg, whom she married May 24, 1975; children, Dr. Cara (Piero) Berg-Carramusa of Poland, John “JJ” (Kimmy) Berg of Poland, Kimberly (Michael) Kivlighan of Poland, Kristina (Ken) Putzlocker of Natrona Heights, Pa.; brother, Christy (Mary) Morrone of Lowellville; eight grandchildren, Salvi and Marco Carramusa, “Gabba” Berg, Kelsey, Kenzie and Thomas Kivlighan, Melia and KJ Putzlocker; and several amazing nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Theresa was preceded in death by her brother, Anthony Morrone.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Theresa’s memory to The Oblate Sisters, 50 Warner Road, Hubbard, OH 44425.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all their friends and family who have helped them navigate this difficult time. They would also like to thank everyone at Hospice of the Valley for their unwavering support, kindness, compassion, understanding and care for their mother – they were amazing.
