Ruth E. Blasko

AUSTINTOWN — Ruth E. Blasko, 99, died peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2025, at her home.

Ruth was born Dec. 30, 1925, in Youngstown, the daughter of Michael Blasko and Anna Gedra Blasko.

A 1943 graduate of Chaney High School, Ruth went on to work as a secretary at General Motors. 

Ruth found joy in swimming at the Jewish Community Center, and she loved dogs. She performed as a soloist in different churches, a role that was enriched by formal voice training. 

Ruth is survived by her nieces, Virginia (Stephen) Wright of Chicago and Susan Fry of Florida; sister-in-law, Marcia Blasko of Florida; eight great-nieces and great-nephews; and her beloved dog, Ava. 

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her sisters, Vera (Robert) Fry and Anna S. (Al) Kish; brother, Michael J. Blasko; nephews, Thomas Blasko and Thomas Fry; niece, Karen (James Hardy) Fry; and her beloved dog, Heidi. 

Ruth will be laid to rest in Tod Homestead Cemetery. 

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.
