Ruth A. Bindas, a supervising manager of Client Services and State Hearings at Mahoning County Child Support Enforcement and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2026. Born Ruth McManus in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, she lived a life marked by kindness, dedication, and a deep sense of family.

Ruth graduated from Boardman High School in 1952, laying the foundation for a lifetime of service and commitment to others. Her professional career at the Mahoning County Child Support Enforcement demonstrated her compassion and steadfast dedication to ensuring the wellbeing of children and families in her community. Throughout her career, she earned respect and admiration from colleagues for her tireless work ethic and empathy.

A woman of varied interests, Ruth enjoyed traveling and needlework, pursuits that brought joy and fulfillment to her life. She and her husband, Bernie, traveled all over the world; their favorite destination was China. She was a former member of the Chestnut Hill Garden Club and the Embroiders' Guild of America. Her love for needlework reflected a meticulous and patient nature—qualities that also defined her approach to life and relationships.

As a proud member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, she served as a deacon, contributing generously to her spiritual community and embodying a spirit of service and faithfulness.

In 2015, following Ohio’s decision to open adoption records, Ruth embarked on a profound personal journey. Through Ancestry.com and Facebook, she discovered two brothers, Barrie and Robert Rahn. This reunion blossomed into a meaningful and close relationship with both brothers and their wives, enriching Ruth’s family circle in unforgettable ways.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan Bindas, and extended family including Robert (Mae) Rahn, and several nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory and celebrate her life.

Ruth’s passing also recalls those who went before her, including her beloved parents, Margaret and Harry W. McManus; her husband, Bernard M. Bindas, whom she married on July 16, 1960; and her brothers, Barrie and Jack Rahn, and Harry E. McManus.

Ruth A. Bindas will be remembered for her warmth, dedication, and the quiet strength with which she navigated life’s challenges. Her legacy endures in the hearts of those she loved and the countless individuals she touched through her work and community involvement. Her memory remains a beacon of grace and compassion for all who knew her.

Ruth was so grateful to John Koval, MD, for the kind and compassionate care he gave to Bernie and herself through the years.
