Richard James Natale, 78, of Niles, OH passed away Thursday morning, June 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at the Hospice House in Boardman, OH.
Born August 15, 1946, in Warren, OH, Richard was the son of the late Richard F. and Mary (Nolan) Natale. He was a 1965 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and attended Kent State University, Trumbull Campus, where he earned his real estate certification. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and served overseas.
Richard was a hardworking family man. As a young man, he worked at Nannicola wholesale, where his cousin Frankie Nannicola mentored and inspired his passion for business. Throughout the 1970’s he worked alongside his father as an agent in the family real estate business. His love for Real Estate has been carried on by both his son and daughter. Richard’s entrepreneurial drive led to many different business ventures. He always had big ideas and wasn’t afraid to pursue them. Many of his ideas came to fruition with the loving support of his dedicated wife. He was the owner and operator of the former Bat & Putt, a staple of Warren. Countless families would gather there in the fun, family atmosphere he created. At B & P Shirt Company in Warren, anyone and everyone were welcome and he embraced the life-long bonds he made with both his employees and customers. Richard started Natale’s NY Style Pizza in the early 90’s, which will continue to thrive with him being the inspiration. He looked forward to every event he attended and made countless memories and many friendships that he truly cherished. Richard also created a working relationship with the Howland Athletic Club. 30 years later, his commitment to great food, service and smiles continues. His legacy in the industry will continue to be honored by his son Anthony and his family. Richard retired in 2018, but stories of his business adventures will live on forever.
He was a member of St. Mary Church in Warren, the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion Post # 106 in Niles, and The National Independent Concessionaires Association. He enjoyed golfing, being outside in the sun, tirelessly rooting for the Cleveland Browns, and watching his “shows” with Paulette. Richard especially enjoyed the years spent as a “snowbird”, traveling along the Florida coast with his beloved wife.
Richard’s legacy was, without a doubt, his family. His pride in his Italian heritage was evident. He had a special ability to make you feel important and loved. He genuinely enjoyed gathering with loved ones to tell stories, laugh and play games. He cherished the time he spent with his family and imparted wisdom and advice to all those that he loved. He embodied the importance of family and his children and grandchildren will undoubtedly carry on his influence.
He leaves behind the love of his life, Paulette (D’Amico) Natale. They met at the wedding of mutual friends in 1968. As the story goes, the two of them locked eyes that day and the rest is history. They married on September 20, 1969. They shared 57 happy years of love and friendship. Together they created a beautiful family and legacy. In addition to his wife, he will be affectionately missed by his children: Natalie (Kevin) Berry of Mineral Ridge, OH, Theresa (Carl) Holscher of Dublin, OH, and Anthony (Jeri) Natale of Warren. 10 grandchildren: Tannor (Sarah Naqshband) Berry of Las Vegas, Makayla (Joseph) Thomas of Nashville, TN, Carli, Maria, Katie, Julia, and Stella Holscher, of Dublin, OH, and Sophia, Lillian, and Anna Natale of Warren, OH. He is also survived by his brother, Dennis Natale of Cortland and sister Mary Catherine Lapmardo of Warren. Half siblings Paul Natale, Mary Jude Setting, Margaret Tonkovich, and Carmen Natale. He was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Mary Natale.
