MENTOR — Raymond C. Miller, 88, formerly of Diamond, peacefully entered into eternity to the outstretched arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Monday, July 21, 2025.
Ray was born Feb. 10, 1937, in the Bronx, New York. He was adopted and raised by his loving parents, the late Edward and Bertha Maffit Miller of Uniontown, Pa.
Ray was a 1955 graduate of Uniontown High School, where he excelled in football and wrestling. Despite athletic scholarship offers to Penn State and Indiana, Ray followed his passion for cars and moved to Euclid, where he began employment as a polisher and was later promoted to foreman at the General Motors Fisher Body plant. Ray would later transfer to the GM Lordstown facility, where he was promoted to general foreman in 1971, and remained there until his retirement in 1992. He received numerous awards and recognitions, including 33 years with perfect attendance.
Ray married his high school sweetheart, Laura Meek, on July 21, 1956, and had three children, Raymond (Sheila) Miller of Austintown, Jeffrey Miller and Deborah (Ron) Suszek of Greensburg, Pa. Ray was a loving and devoted “Papa” to Zachary and Tyler Miller, and Joshua, Matthew and Rachel Suszek.
Ray was known for his God-given size and strength. He took great pleasure in mowing and maintaining his 25 acres of property. Ray owned numerous tractors, but his father’s Farmall BN (aka Mighty Mouse) was his favorite. He also owned 45 new cars in his lifetime and could remember historic events by the car he owned that year. His favorite vehicles were a 1937 Chevy Master Deluxe and a 1979 Chevy Silverado truck. Ray also enjoyed spending time in his large detached workshop / garage.
Ray’s greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his five grandchildren. He was an incredible family man and role model, and leaves a wonderful legacy that will remain in his family and friends’ hearts forever.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Bertha Miller; wife, Laura; son, Jeffrey; and sisters, Cora Davis and Elsie Bishop.
