POLAND-Services will be Friday at 11:30 AM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel for Peter P. Babik age 83 of Herbert Rd. Canfield, formerly of Clingan Rd. Poland who died suddenly Monday morning at his home. Peter was born June 27, 1920, in Youngstown, the son of John and Anna Sonoga Babik. He had served in the Civilian Conservation Corps, and then worked at Youngstown Steel Door before serving in the Army Air Corps during W.W.II. He later worked at
Cold Metal Products as a welder for 30 years before retiring in 1978. After his retirement he worked for Rowley and Brown Petroleum as a gas well inspector
for 6 years.
His wife the former Irene Kamoda whom he married September 9, 1941, died November 12, 2001. He is survived by his two daughters, Bonita Irene Rodger Morgan of
Campbell, and Suzanne Joyce Stephen Terihay of Berlin Center, a sister Anna Lee of
Youngstown and two granddaughters, Rebecca Hickerson of Columbus, and Tracy Morgan of Campbell.Besides his wife he was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Janosic,
Margaret Tomidajewicz, and
Katherine DePaul, and six brothers, Mike Sonoga, John, Steve, Elmer, Joseph, and Andrew Babik.
Friends may call from 1 to 3 PM and from 7 to 9 PM Thursday at the
Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel.
