Paul A. Sodeman

STRUTHERS - Paul A. Sodeman, 78, died unexpectedly Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at home.

He was born April 12, 1947, in Youngstown, the son of Harold and Ruth Thompson Sodeman.

Paul was a graduate of Struthers High School and attended Youngstown State University. He graduated from the Ohio State Patrol Academy, and was appointed as State Trooper where he worked for 25 years until retiring in 1999. During his time as a trooper, he received several accolades, including Trooper of the Year in 1992, certificate of recognition, Ace Award and five safe driving awards.

Paul's faith was very important to him as he was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching the Cleveland Browns and Guardians and the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Paul is survived by his children, Philip (Holly) Sodeman of Boardman, P. Brian Sodeman of Baltimore and Michelle Simonelli of Lakewood; his longtime companion, Joann Forsythe, sister Ruth (Joe) Scodari of Philadelphia; sisters-in-law, Laura Sodeman of Southington and Judy Sodeman of Austintown; nine grandchildren, and his beloved dog, Ralph.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Harold "Sonny" Sodeman, James Sodeman and David Sodeman and sister, Barbara Weeks. 

Family and friends may call Monday, August 4, 2025 from 10 am to 12 pm at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel, where a funeral service will follow at 12 pm.
