Paul C. Danks -- 74

Austintown - Paul C. Danks, 74, of Austintown, passed away peacefully late Sunday morning, March 1,2026, at his home with his family by his bedside. Paul was born June 29, 1951 in Cleveland, the son of the late Clarence and Ruth (Swenson) Danks.

Paul was a graduate of Boardman High School, class of 1969, a member of the BHS concert band, marching band, and orchestra. He was a member of Youngstown Junior Symphony and Mahoning County Music Festival. Paul attended Youngstown State University, where he met his wife at the Dana School of Music. He was a member of YSU Orchestra, Concert Band, Marching Band, University Chorus, and various ensembles. Paul had such a beautiful and tender voice, he was invited to sing at various churches and events. He began his love of music at the age of 8, learning the violin, and later learned to play Baritone and Bass Drum.

Paul was awarded a Life Membership in the Youngstown Area Community Concert Band for his involvement with the percussion section. Along with his wife, they enjoyed many performances and achievements with the YACCB.

Paul was a long time member of Disciples of Christ Christian Church, serving as a deacon and elder, singing in the choir, a soloist, instrumental music, and other posts. He was a past member of The Austintown Optimist Club.

Before retiring from Mercy Health, St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he was a healthcare assistant at the main campus on Belmont Avenue, Paul took pride in working for Lanes' and Higgins' Ambulance Services. Prior to his work with Mercy Health, he worked for Republic Steel (LTV) for 30 years.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Family was the most important thing for Paul. He brought humor to all aspects of his family and others' lives. He was a great supporter of his children's sports and music activities. As strong of a love and devotion for his family, was his love of music and performing for others.

Paul leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 54 years, the former Susan Riebe, whom he married October 7, 1971. He also leaves four children, Christine Bloom and her husband Robert of Austintown, Bryan Danks and his wife Jennifer of Austintown, Dr. Amanda Danks and her husband Bradford Porterfield of Cary, N.C., and Colin Danks and his significant other Shanna Dingess of Newton Falls, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
