Mary Farragher York

CANFIELD - Mary Farragher York, 73, passed away at her home on April 1, 2024 surrounded by her loving family, after battling courageously against cancer.
She was born in Youngstown on September 29, 1950, the only child to Robert and Novello (Scott) Farragher.
Mary graduated from Ursuline High School in 1968 and went on to earn both bachelor's and master's degrees in business administration from Youngstown State University.
Mary's passion for teaching was evident throughout her career. She served as a Professor at Youngstown State University and the computer teacher at Ursuline Preschool and Kindergarten. Her impact on her students' lives extended far beyond the classroom, and she made everlasting friends there as well.
Apart from her professional contributions, Mary was a woman of diverse interests and vibrant personality. She found joy in the simple things in life - cooking, gardening, reading, and traveling. Her warm hospitality brought family and friends together, making every gathering a memorable experience. Mary's adventurous spirit led her to the waters as well; she particularly cherished her time sailing as a member of the Berlin Yacht Club and vacationing in Maine.
In September of 1984, Mary married the love of her life, Edward York. Together, they shared a beautiful life filled with love and mutual respect. Mary is survived by her devoted husband Edward; loving daughter Katie York Fleming (Jim Fleming) of Youngstown; and cherished grandson Robert Fleming, whom she adored more than anything on Earth. Additionally, Mary leaves behind many friends and cousins who will always remember her kindness and infectious spirit.
Visitation will be held at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel on Thursday, April 4, 2024 for from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, April 5, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at St. Edward Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at church.
Donations may be made in her honor to Fellows Riverside Gardens.
