AUSTINTOWN - Martin Dale Washington Jr., 68, passed away Sunday morning after a courageous fight with cancer and diabetes.
Martin was born June 21, 1944, in Youngstown, a son of the late Martin Dale and June Fitch Washington Sr.
Martin graduated from South High School in 1963. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War from January of 1964 to December of 1967. Martin retired from Roth Bros. Inc. in 2002. He enjoyed traveling and taking many cruises with his wife and family.
Martin leaves the love of his life, his wife, the former Carol Jean Hyden, whom he married Dec. 15, 1966; the light of his life, his two daughters, Kimberly Jean Chip "like a son" Keil and Cheri Lynn Donald O. "fast friend" Davis of Hubbard; his sister, June Day of Girard; and his special aunt and uncle, Rinky and Bill Crawford of Boardman.
Martin was also preceded in death by a sister, Ina Blazek.
There will be no calling hours or services at Martin's request.
Material tributes may take the form of donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital and Angels for Animals in Canfield.
Professional arrangements are being handled by the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.
