Mark S. Schaefer

He was born March 5, 1950, in Youngstown, a son of John and Aletha Eggert Schaefer.

Mark graduated from Springfield High School in 1968. He then attended Cleveland State University. He furthered his academic endeavors by obtaining a bachelor’s degree in business from Youngstown State University.

Mark was a lifelong Cleveland sports fan. He also had a knack for repairing things, a skill passed down to him by his father. Above all, Mark cherished moments spent with his beloved family.

Mark is survived by his wife, Carolyn Denny-Schaefer, whom he married May 17, 1975; children, Daniel (Karynn) Schaefer, Matthew Schaefer (Dani DeAngelo) and Madalyn Schaefer; grandson, Roscoe Schaefer, and two grandchildren arriving this spring; brothers, John (Sharon) and Glen; sister, Lee (Dick) Bowden; many nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Christina Stimac and Georgie Denny; and best friend, Jack (Rom) Sipe.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Schaefer; sister-in-law, Sherry Schaefer; brother-in-law, Larry Denny; and in-laws, Daniel and Madalyn Denny.

Calling hours will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 14, 2024, followed by a funeral service at noon, at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel.
