STRUTHERS — Leola C. Sandine passed away Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2025, at Masternick Memorial.
She was born Oct. 8, 1958, in Philippi, W.Va., a daughter of Ralph McCauley and the former Rebecca Gillis.
Leola, affectionately known as Lee, earned her bachelor’s degree from Youngstown State University and pursued a career as an accountant. She proudly owned and operated Lee’s Tax Service.
A true animal lover, Lee had a special affinity for cats and volunteered her time with New Lease on Life Animal Rescue. She also was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church.
She was a devoted mother, known for her unwavering love and support, as well as her down-home country cooking. Her most cherished role was taking care of her family. She loved vacationing at the beach and could sit under an umbrella for hours and read multiple books.
Lee married Mark A. Sandine on March 30, 2001, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 24, 2023.
In addition to her parents and husband, Lee was preceded in death by her furry family.
Lee is survived by her daughter, Amanda K. (Butch) Fox of Youngstown; her son, William C. (Nicole) Spiker Jr. of Delaware, Ohio; and grandchildren, Grace and Blake Spiker.
A memorial service will be celebrated at noon Friday, Aug. 29, 2025, at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel, 2726 Center Road, where calling hours will be held one hour prior, beginning at 11am.
Lee will be entombed in St. John Cemetery with her husband, Mark.
Lee’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Masternick Memorial and AKESO Hospice for their compassionate care.
