YOUNGSTOWN - Lauretta S. Klempay, 76, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025, at Austintown Emergency, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on September 22, 1948, in Youngstown, the daughter of John and Margaret Potts Smith.

Lauretta graduated from South High School. Her career as a State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) in private home health was marked by her dedication and compassion for those she cared for over many years.

Family and friends will remember Lauretta as a very creative individual with a passion for writing, drawing, and crocheting. Her artistic talents were complemented by her culinary skills; she was regarded as an excellent cook who brought joy to her family's gatherings with her delicious meals. Lauretta also cherished her time spent playing cribbage with her husband, nurturing her garden through yard work, and enjoying moments spent on her computer.

She is survived by her children: Michael Hrusovsky of Garrettsville, Rose A. DePizzo of Austintown, Tammie Rodriguez of Youngstown, John R. Smith of Youngstown, and Gary J. (Carol) McClellan of Austintown. Lauretta's legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Michael Hrusovsky Jr., Michaela Hrusovsky, McKenzie Hrusovsky, Leanna DePizzo, Nathan Alexander, David Lugo, Dalia Rodriguez, Jordan McClellan, Jonathan McClellan, Rachel McClellan, and Justin McClellan. She also leaves behind great-grandchildren Owen, Aela, Ophelia, and Juniper, along with several nieces and nephews.

Lauretta was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Charles Klempay, who passed away in 2005, as well as by her brothers, Charles and John Smith; her sisters, Maria (Edward) Amicone, Margaret Henyard, Rosemary Klingensmith, LaVerne Wildish, and nephews Edward Amicone Jr. and Arthur Smith. 

Lauretta S. Klempay will be deeply missed by her family and friends, whose lives she touched with her love and creativity.

Per her wishes, there will be no calling hours or service. A private burial will take place at Lake Park Cemetery.
