Kelley Inez Kurtz

Kelley Inez Kurtz, 68, went to her eternal home on July 24, 2026.

Born on March 22, 1958, in Wheeling, West Virginia, Kelley was the daughter of the late Jon Morton Burgess and Esther Louise (Gatchel) Lianna. She spent her early years in West Virginia before making Ohio her home, where she built a life rooted in faith, family, and cherished friendships.

Kelley was a graduate of Salem High School and enjoyed a long career as a payroll specialist at The Vindicator. She was a former member of the Mill Creek Chapter of the American Business Women's Association. She was also an active member of Heritage Presbyterian Church, where she faithfully served as a deacon.

Kelley loved working on puzzles, playing card games with family and friends, reading, and searching for treasures at auctions and yard sales. She was a devoted Steelers and Pirates fan, loved all things Disney, and enjoyed traveling with her beloved husband, Larry. Their favorite destinations included Las Vegas, North Carolina, and Niagara Falls, where they honeymooned.

Kelley will be remembered for her genuine kindness and generous heart. She had a remarkable gift for making others feel welcome, and her warmth and thoughtfulness left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In addition to her parents, Kelley was preceded in death by her cousin, Jim Pokas.

She is survived by her husband, Lawrence Kurtz; her three sisters, Marjorie (George) Cadwallader, Jackie (Warren) Reis, and Amy (John) Bogaski; her aunt, Betty (the late Calvin) Pokas; her cousins, Dave Gatchel, Barbara (the late Donald) Warren, Judy (Duane) Mayles, John (Jane) Pokas, and Liz Stamp; her sisters-in-law, Nancy Kurtz and Arvona Miller; her brother-in-law, Martin (the late Josephine) Kurtz III; her nieces and nephews; her life-long friend, Marsha Arfman; and many extended family members and dear friends who will cherish her memory.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Kelley's life at a memorial service on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Heritage Presbyterian Church in Poland, Ohio. Cremation was private. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., with the memorial service beginning at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow the service.
