AUSTINTOWN - Kathleen E. Allen, 82, after spending precious moments with her loved ones, peacefully passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025, with her loving daughters by her side.
Kathleen was born on September 7, 1942 in Youngstown, OH, to the late George B. Kesner and Marcella Holleran Kesner. She graduated from Mooney High School in 1961. Shortly after high school, she married Edward N. Larson Sr., and from that union they had three adoring children, Linnette, Edward, and Michelle. Throughout the many years to follow, Edward and Kathleen remained very close friends and supported their family together.
She worked as a Deli Clerk at IGA for 18 years where she built several lasting relationships with special friends.
As a mom, "Gram," and "Gigi," her family was the center of her world. She never missed a chance to be with her family, whether it was attending parties, picnics, holidays, you name it, she was there. And she always made sure to cheer on her favorite athletes, whether it was her children's sporting events, or her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. It is incredibly hard to put into words what she meant to this family. We were truly blessed to have shared so much time, love, and laughs with Kathleen over the course of her life.
Kathleen married John B. Allen in September of 1989, and remained happily married until his passing in 2014.
She leaves behind her beloved daughters, Linnette Larson Patterson, with whom she shared a home with for many years, Michelle (Scott) Larson Packer, and a cherished daughter-in-law Lori (Raymond) Larson Morris. She also leaves behind her grandchildren who she loved deeply: Lindsay (Corey) Susany, Brittany (Patrick) DeVito, Paige (fiance Marty Sharisky) Patterson, Amanda (Craig) Caputo, Zane Patterson, Jacob Larson, and bonus grandchildren Samantha (Samuel) Komara, Cole Morris, and Cate Morris. Each grandchild held a special place in her heart. Her family continued to bloom with the addition of seven great-grandchildren and one on the way—Boston and Brooklyn Susany, Emma and Patrick (Hoey) DeVito, Julian Patterson, McKenna Sharisky, Caden Caputo, an anticipated Baby Caputo on the way, and bonus great-grandchildren Hunter and Dallas Komara. She was known as "Gigi" to her great-grandchildren, and the memories she created with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren will live on through the generations to come. Kathleen also leaves behind several adoring nieces and nephews.
Kathleen faced the profound loss of her husband, John B. Allen, and her son, Edward N. Larson Jr. She also mourned the passing of her parents, and her brothers, George M. (Mary Jane) Kesner and John E. (Sally) Kesner.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM, followed by a memorial service at 1:30 PM, both at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home - Austintown Chapel, located at 4303 Mahoning Ave, Youngstown, OH 44515.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests material donations be made to Akeso Healthcare, located at 6600 Summit Dr, Canfield, OH 44406.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff members of Caprice Healthcare Center and Akeso Hospice for their compassionate care of Kathleen during the last weeks of her life.
Mom, Gram, Gigi, you will remain in our hearts always, we know you will still be cheering us on and our biggest fan forever, and "we love you BIG!"
