John Scott

July 24, 1921 — August 31, 2004

AUSTINTOWN-Services will be Friday at 9:00 AM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, and at 9:30 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for Retired Austintown Police Chief, John C. "Jack" Scott age 83 of Austintown who died early Tuesday morning at his home after a two month illness. Jack was born July 24, 1921, in Manhattan, NY, the son of John George and Agnes Higgins Scott. He was a W.W.II Veteran serving in the Canadian Army's 1st Tank Brigade. He moved to this area in the late 1940s and worked as a foreman for the US Steel Corporation for over 25 years retiring in 1978. He also served as an Austintown Twp. volunteer fireman, and as an Austintown Twp. police officer, where served as the Chief of Police from 1980 to 1987. He was a charter member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, where he had served as an usher, and was a member of the Msgr. Mears Council of the Knights of Columbus in Austintown.
He is survived by his wife the former Minnie M. Higgins whom he married April 22, 1946, four daughters, Brenda Frank McLeod of Austintown, Pat Ronald, Sr. Sauce of Columbus, Jackie Jeff Rosenberger of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Maureen Scott of Youngstown, a brother Richard Eva Scott of Howland, 12 grandchildren, John and Jodi Elias, Michele Olsen, Ronald Sauce, Jr., Scott and Kevin Rosenberger, Margaret, Marie, Melissa, and Rocky Russo, Frank McLeod, and Lori Pernatto, and seven great grandchildren.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Vivian Collier.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM Thursday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.
The family requests that material tributes take the form of donations to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Center Building Fund.
