POLAND — John Joseph “JJ” Savarise, 80, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, June 27, 2026.

JJ was born Dec. 18, 1945, in Lackawanna, New York, a son of John and Melly Pitillo Savarise.

He proudly served his country as a U.S. Naval veteran and was a dedicated member of American Legion Post 15.

JJ spent the majority of his career at the Edward J. DeBartolo Corporation as a vice president of leasing. He then went on to establish a successful chain of franchises. He was respected for his vision, integrity and unwavering work ethic.

While his professional accomplishments were many, they were far surpassed by the kindness with which he lived his life. His generous spirit touched countless lives, as he quietly offered his time, resources and encouragement to those in need. He was a steadfast supporter of charitable causes, especially those benefiting veterans, pet rescue and organ donation. JJ was an incredible husband and father, known for his humor, guidance and storytelling. He was proud of his Italian heritage and an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills and Cleveland Guardians.

JJ is survived by his beautiful and devoted wife of 57 years, Judith Skrzypczak Savarise; loving father of Amy (Steve) Mathieson, Gina (Dean) Perella and Jessica (David) Sturgiss; cherished grandfather of Dino (Samantha), Santino, John (Reese), Joey and Jack Henry; adored great-grandfather of Vanessa, John Joseph “JJ” and Henry; loving brother of Bonnie (Ed) Salem and brother-in-law of Jacqueline (David) Lanzillo.
