JoAnn Hamrick

JoAnn was born Nov. 29, 1936, in North Jackson, the daughter of Merl Bletso and Winifred Sarsfield Bletso.

JoAnn led a fulfilling life dedicated to caring for others. She worked as a ward clerk at St. Elizabeth Hospital for an admirable 25 years, touching the lives of countless patients and colleagues with her kindness and compassion. Her commitment to her work was truly exceptional.

She was known for her warm and loving personality, always putting family first. A true homebody, JoAnn found joy in the simple pleasures of life and cherished spending time in the comfort of her home surrounded by her most beloved cats, friends and loved ones.

JoAnn is survived by her daughters, Betty Trimm Matasy and Kathleen Trimm; and son, Bill (Barb); as well as her grandchildren, Amy (David) Polzella, Sara (Tyrone) Williams, Sam (Alexandra) Trimm, Kathryn (Austin Christopher) Matasy, Allison (Fariaz) Rabbani; six great-grandchildren; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Monroe “Norm” Hamrick; sister, Alma Prystash; and brothers, William Bletso and Robert Bletso.

Family and friends may call 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 14, 2024, and 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2024, at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, 4303 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown, OH 44515.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.

The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to Animal Charity Humane Society, 4140 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512.
