Boardman ...... A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2026, at St. Dominic Church for Jean H. McBride, 87, of Boardman, who passed away peacefully on November 3, 2026, at her home with her family by her side.
Jean was born April 2, 1939, in Cleveland, the daughter of Robert J. and Agnes (Donohue) Hannon.
She graduated from McDonald High School, Class of 1957, and continued her education at Northside Hospital, becoming a Registered Radiologic Technologist in 1960. Jean worked as an X-ray technician at Northside and Southside Hospitals and for various area physicians. In the mid-1980s, she returned to school to become a Certified Medical Assistant. She retired in 2006.
Jean placed great importance on education, a value she instilled in her children and grandchildren through her encouragement and personal sacrifices. All three of her children earned postgraduate degrees, and both of her grandchildren are pursuing advanced degrees. Their accomplishments were among her greatest sources of pride.
Jean married the love of her life, Thomas "Pete" McBride, on August 10, 1963. They shared 57 years of marriage before his passing on April 28, 2021.
A woman of deep and abiding faith, Jean was a longtime member of St. Dominic Church. Her faith remained a source of strength throughout her life, particularly during difficult times, and she served as an enduring example of faith and perseverance to her family.
Jean was also a member of the 500 Club and the McDonald High School Class of 1957 Reunion Committee. She cherished her time with family, particularly her husband, children, and grandchildren. She enjoyed ceramics, frequent trips to South Bend, Indiana, with Tom for Notre Dame football games, Sundays at the Mahoning Valley Gaelic Society, and collecting sea glass. In retirement, she especially treasured time spent with family.
Above all, Jean will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, cherished sister, and loyal friend. To her grandchildren, she was "Nana," a name that reflected a lifetime of love and a special bond. She possessed a wonderful wit and a keen sense of humor, often sharing the Irish sayings and quips passed down from her parents. Her warmth, humor, and unwavering devotion to her family will remain lasting gifts to those who knew and loved her.
Jean leaves to cherish her memory three children, Noreen McBride, with whom she made her home, Attorney Michael McBride of Boardman, and Attorney Robert McBride (Monica Hall) of Canton; two grandchildren, Robert McBride Jr. (fiancée Olivia Bando) and Mary Beth McBride; three sisters: her twin sister, Jane Tock of Lakewood, Joanne Radabaugh of McDonald, and Kathleen Hannon of McDonald; and her sister-in-law, Dorothy Hannon of McDonald. She will also be fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews and members of the extended Hannon and McBride families.
In addition to her parents, Robert and Agnes, and her beloved husband, Tom, Jean was preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn Hannon; two brothers, the Rev. Robert Hannon and Thomas Hannon; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, and a niece.
Friends and family may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, November 9, 2026, at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, 3701 Starr's Centre Drive, Canfield, Ohio 44406. Closing prayers will be offered at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, November 10, before proceeding to St. Dominic Church for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Jean will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery beside her beloved husband, Tom.
