James Brian McGinnis passed away on May 24, 2026. Jim was born December 14, 1950, the 4th child, and the 1st son, of Catherine Cronk McGinnis and James E. McGinnis. Jim was well welcomed.
He was a remarkable man, a charming man and was well traveled and well loved. Jim was extremely proud of his Irish heritage and was the McGinnis family historian and storyteller. He was our "Diamond Jim".
Jim leaves three children; Brian McGinnis, Molly (Michael) Retzler, and Patrick McGinnis, and two beautiful grandchildren, Ben and Jon Retzler all of Cincinnati.
Also missing Jim in their lives are his sister, Patricia (Rick) McGinnis-Milheim, his brothers John McGinnis of Austintown and Robert (Connie) McGinnis of New Wilmington, PA. Jim will be missed also by numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Katie and Jim McGinnis and his two sisters, Barbara Cash and Kathleen McGinnis, both of Youngstown. Jim's caring cremation was by Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home of Austintown. He will be laid peacefully to rest with his parents in Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown. A memorial mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Heart of Mary Austintown Campus at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, Jim wanted any contributions to go to the Mahoning County Democratic Party, 3507 Canfield Road, Number 7, Youngstown, Ohio 44511.
