BOARDMAN ­- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church, Boardman, for Mrs. J. Martina Finnerty McCormick, 83, who died Thursday evening at Hospice House.

Tina was born in Youngstown on Jan. 16, 1931, the seventh of eight daughters of Martin and Teresa Moran Finnerty.

She went to St. Patrick School and was a 1949 graduate of Ursuline High School.

She married John P. McCormick on Dec. 30, 1953. Together they raised their family in Austintown. While her children went to St. Christine's Elementary School, Tina volunteered in the library and on the playground. She continued a long tradition of volunteering at St. Joseph School, Austintown and St. Charles School, Boardman. For over 15 years, Tina was a volunteer receptionist at the Ursuline Motherhouse in Canfield.

She was a member of St. Charles Parish, a Charter member of Seton III, and belonged to the Ursuline Sisters Century Club.

Tina loved her family, her children and grandchildren, her sisters and their husbands, and her numerous nieces and nephews. She helped to coordinate numerous family activities, including an annual bus trip to a Notre Dame Football game each fall. She served as the Treasurer of the Finnerty Family Fund for over 40 years. She taught a generation of nieces and nephews to golf at Lake Erie while on the annual family vacation at the Lake.

Tina leaves two daughters, Sister Mary McCormick, OSU and Tina (Alex) Simon; a son, Jack (Sheri) McCormick; and three grandchildren, Jessica Simon (Carl > Peterson), Alex Simon and Marisa Simon. She was delighted about the > forthcoming birth of her first great-grandchild in April. She also leaves two sisters, Ruth Eich and Patricia (James) Ellsworth of Beaver Pa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and five sisters, Theresa Helen Kelly, Dorothy Franklin, Rita Barger, Gertrude Lyden, and Mary Hay.

Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman- Canfield Chapel and Monday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at the church.
