Irene Mills

AUSTINTOWN — Irene Mills passed away Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the age of 99, at Briarfield Place.

She was born Sept. 12, 1925, in Youngstown, a daughter of Samuel Parfenchuk and the former Mary Panko. 

A graduate of Wilson High School, Irene worked in the Title Department at Dollar Bank and previously at The Vindicator in Classified Ads.

Irene was a passionate gardener and enjoyed sewing. She had a love of fashion and always expressed herself with grace and style. 

Irene also enjoyed her time with her late husband, Charles, participating in a dance club. 

Irene is survived by her son, Charles (Jenny) Mills of Austintown, and grandsons, Charles R. and Mark A. Mills. 

In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Charles; sister, Olga Myerovich; and her brother, William Parfenchuk.

A funeral service will be celebrated 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2025, at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, 3701 Starrs Centre Drive. Calling hours will begin two hours prior to the service, starting at 11 a.m. Irene will be laid to rest in Canfield Cemetery.
