CANFIELD - Hope Lynn Chance, age 70, of Canfield, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born on December 19, 1955, in Youngstown, Ohio. Preceding her in death are her parents Harold and Hulda Johnson, her sister Gayle (John) Caras, and her brother, Gary (Cindy) Johnson Sr.
Hope was a high school cheerleader. She earned a bachelor's degree in science from Youngstown State University. She became a respiratory therapist and later a licensed practical nurse working at Northside Hospital, Shepperd of the Valley and Ivy Woods.
Hope loved to dance and even performed at the Stambaugh Auditorium. She found joy in gardening and spending time outdoors. She enjoyed the challenge of refurbishing furniture and antiques. Her greatest passion was her family. She dearly loved her husband Jeff and her children Nickolas and Tiffani very much. Hope loved life and was a true friend to those who knew her. She was compassionate and generous to those in need. She gave of herself every day. She was one of a kind and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Jeff Chance Sr., sons Nicholas Graham and Jeffrey Chance Jr.; a daughter Tiffani Chance and Austin Skovran; brother and sister- in-law Craig and Cathy Johnson; nieces and nephews; Jennifer Jones and Jessica Caras, Harold, David, Gary Jr., and Adam Johnson, Christine Fodale, Cheri DeLuca, Chad Johnson, Carey Tribuzio, Phillip Chance Jr., Missy Bruner, and Michele Santareli.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2026, and again from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026, at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, 4303 Mahoning Ave. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m.
She will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.
