CANFIELD – Helen Marie Reardon Verdream, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025, at the age of 88.
Born on June 8, 1937, in Youngstown, Ohio, she was the daughter of John B. Reardon Sr. and Ella (Cannon) Reardon. Helen was a proud 1955 graduate of Ursuline High School and went on to study business at Youngstown State University, where she was a member of the Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority. It was there that she met her college sweetheart, Anthony Francis Verdream. The two were married on June 3, 1961, at St. Christine’s Church.
Helen worked as an administrative assistant at La Roche University in Pittsburgh before continuing her career at Youngstown State University. Known for her quick wit, sense of humor, warmth, and creativity, Helen cherished spending time with both family and friends. She loved a good celebration and never missed an opportunity to gather with those she loved and who loved her in return. For over 25 years, she faithfully attended her beloved "card club" with her closest friends. She also shared a special bond with Stella, the family pug, who brought her endless comfort and joy. She had a deep love for travel, especially family trips to Chicago, and treasured a lifetime of summers spent along the shores of Lake Erie.
Creative at heart, Helen found joy in crafting, especially needlework and ceramics. She had a great appreciation for a good comedy, and her laugh was as memorable as it was infectious. She was an active member and volunteer with the PERI retirement group and remained closely connected to her professional roots as a member of the YSU Retirees.
A devoted Catholic, Helen took great comfort in her faith, attending Sunday Mass and praying the Rosary daily.
Helen is survived by her children, John "Paul" (Irene) Verdream of Chicago, James Verdream of Kentucky, and Erin (John) DeBernardo of Canfield, along with her beloved grandchildren: Sara (Hunter) Urick, Ian Verdream, Chrissy Verdream, Jimmy (Jessica) Verdream, Michael Verdream, Julian Verdream, Christian Nieto, and Manny Nieto.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Robert E. (Beverly) Reardon, and John B. (Carole) Reardon, II.
As a heartfelt farewell for your journey, we love you, Mom…
