George Evans

October 18, 1921 — February 12, 2005

CANFIELD - Services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday at the Woodworth Church of the Bretheran 30 E. Western Reserve Rd. for George R. "Dick" Evans age 83 of Hunters Woods, formerly of E. Parkside Dr., Boardman, who passed away Saturday morning at his home after a three month illness.
Dick was born October 18, 1921 in Adena, Ohio the son of Michael and Nellie Kobus Evans.
A graduate of Mogadore High School, he had served in the U.S. Marine Corps. during W.W.II, and the Korean Wars before being honorably discharged as a First Luitenant. He had first been the owner operator of Muntz T.V., then Evans Carpet, and later founded T.W. Pet Centers in 1973 which he operated until his retirement in 1983.
He was a member of the Uptown Kiwanis Club, Past President of the Youngstown Tropical Fish Society, Past Commandor of the Sea Rayngers Boat Club at Ashtabula Harbour, a member of the church, and was an avid bowler and had sponsered many teams and leagues.
He is survived by his wife the former Ruth F. Feller whom he married Sept. 27, 1942, two daughters, Noel Jenkins of Boardman, Margie Evans of Boardman, a son Dick Evans of Canfield, a sister Margaret Pamer of Suffield, Ohio, four grandchildren Cathy Howard, Cari Lynn Jenkins, Richard, and Bradley Evans, three great grandchildren Felicia, and Ashley Benzenhoefer, and Cody Howard.
He was preceded in death by a son Eric Evans.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 Monday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Boardman-canfield Chapel, and for one hour prior to services in the church Tuesday.
