BOARDMAN-Services will be Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the Bethel Lutheran Church for Frank Percic age 92 of Walnut Ave, formerly of Sharrott Rd. who died Friday afternoon at his home. Frank was born July 19, 1911, in Lowellville, Ohio, the son of Michael and Dora Bezjak Percic. He received his Bachelors Degree from Ohio University in 1936, and in 1946 received his Masters Degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He had been a science teacher for over 40 years, beginning his career at West Alexandria High School where he taught for one year. He then taught for seven years at Springfield Local High School, where he had founded the schools six man football program, and had been responsible for choosing their mascot and giving the Springfield Tigers their name. He then taught a year at Austintown Fitch High School, and for thirty-one years taught chemistry and physics at Youngstown North High School, retiring in 1976. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, where he had at one time served as treasurer, was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church, and was a member of Argus Masonic Lodge F&AM # 545 for over fifty years.
Frank is survived by his wife the former Betty Ziroff whom he married September 18, 1938, two daughters Kathryn Percic of Cincinnati, and Carol Jay Fullum of Ravena, NY, a daughter-in-law Donna Cicil Conkle of Lisbon, a sister Olga Evans of Negley, Oh., five grandchildren, Lisa M. Ronald Kolber of Peaster, TX, Beth Ann Brian Gluck of Newark, Delaware, Lori Scott Houghtaling of Feura Bush, NY, Richard B. Percic of Lisbon, and Nichole M. LaRocca of Cincinnati, and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son Richard A. Percic, three sisters, Alma Radu, Anna Thompson, and Veronica Percic, and three brothers, William, Mike, and Joseph Percic.
Friends may call from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM Tuesday morning at the Bethel Lutheran Church.
The family requests that material tributes take the form of donations to either the Bethel Lutheran Church Building Fund, American Cancer Society, or Forum Hospice at Home.
Arrangements are by the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel.
