Youngstown...Evelyn K. Tkalec, a devoted sister, passionate volunteer, and respected pharmacy technician, passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at the age of 75, surrounded by her beloved sisters after a brief illness.

Born on July 31, 1950, in Youngstown, Ohio, Evelyn was the daughter of Steve and Nancy Schreiber Tkalec. She received her education at Ursuline High School and furthered her studies at Youngstown State University, laying the groundwork for a successful career. For over 50 years, she worked as a pharmacy technician at Allen's Drugtown and the Medicine Shoppe, where she gained the respect and admiration of both her colleagues and customers.

Evelyn was a devoted member of St. Columba Cathedral in Youngstown, where she found a sense of community and belonging. Her unwavering dedication extended beyond her professional life, as she sought fulfillment through her volunteering efforts. In 2010, she discovered her greatest passion: working with the Mahoning County Dog Warden. Evelyn played an instrumental role in founding Friends of Fido in 2011, an organization dedicated to providing veterinary care for homeless dogs. Over the last 15 years, she fostered nearly 20 dogs for local rescues, demonstrating her profound love for animals and commitment to their welfare.

In her passing, Evelyn leaves behind her cherished sisters, Janet Tkalec and Shirley Tkalec, both of Youngstown. She is also survived by her nieces, Kristy LaLonde and Tabitha Karcher, who reside out of state, as well as her beloved pets, Abby the kitty and her recently adopted dog, Odie. Evelyn's circle of family and friends will deeply miss her warmth, kindness, and spirited dedication to service.

The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to their cousins, good friends, members of Friends of Fido, the employees of Mahoning County Dog Warden, and Heartland Hospice for the support they provided during this difficult time.
