Eugene Richard Yarab, 90, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2024, at Assumption Village, North Lima, Ohio.
Born on January 15, 1934, in Struthers, Eugene was a man of profound integrity and commitment, whose presence touched the hearts of many.
Eugene was a 1952 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. His journey through life was marked by hard work, dedication, and a drive to better himself and those around him. After high school, he had the honor of serving in the United States Army from 1956 to 1962. Following his military service, he devoted thirty years to a successful career with Copperweld Steel, where he was known for his steadfast work ethic. Throughout his life he remained physically active by participating in weight lifting, YMCA run and swim clubs. Eugene's passion for aviation led him to become a pilot and flight instructor, where he shared his love for flying with others, imparting knowledge and experience to many aspiring aviators.
Eugene's life was further enriched by the love of his family. He was a devoted father to his children, Lucy (Satoshi) Nagai, Christine Yarab, Pamela Garland, John (Sharon) Yarab, Timothy (Connie) Yarab, Carl (Luanne) Yarab, Jeffrey (Tonia) Yarab, Valerie (Joe) Cannavo, and Paul Yarab. He cherished his role as a grandfather to 18 grandchildren and an adoring 23 great-grandchildren, with three more on the way, bringing him immense joy and pride. He also leaves two sisters, Stephanie Geer and Becky (David) Ifft.
Eugene was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol Rae Davis Yarab, whom he married on October 20, 1956, and who passed away just a year before him on October 5, 2023. They shared a bond that exemplified true love and partnership.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Martha (Peters) Yarab, a great-grandchild, as well as sisters, Dorothy Francis, Annette Calabrette, and brother David Yarab.
His visitation will be held on September 11, 2024, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Higgins- Reardon Funeral Home - Jackson-Milton Chapel, 439 S. Salem-Warren Road. A Mass of Christian Burial in his honor will follow at 11:00 AM at the Basilica & National Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon.
He will be laid to rest at North Jackson Cemetery.
