YOUNGSTOWN — It is with great respect and love that the family of Eleanor Ann Zuby (nee Koleta), 90, wish to announce her passing on Friday, Dec. 4, 2020.
Eleanor was a lifelong resident of Youngstown, Ohio. Her father, Joseph Koleta, died when she was seven and Eleanor started work at 13 to help the family, the youngest child and only girl of Mary Koleta (nee Hohas; nee Yatsko). She met Bill Zuby in 1949 and married him the following year. They had three children, William (Gail), Cynthia and Cheryl; and grandchildren Adam (Kate), Megan and Chelsea; and two great-grandchildren, Liam Morris and Lexi Maxted, and apparently one on the way.
Eleanor “Slim” was an excellent bowler and throughout her life was on a number of league teams. Left to dust her trophies are her daughter, Cheryl Lynn Zuby (Morris) her great-grandson, Liam Morris and (unofficially adopted) granddaughter, Melissa Conway. Her elder daughter, Cindi Zuby, and special friend Lynette Maurice, reside in Edmonton, Alberta Canada.
Eleanor was predeceased by her husband, William George Zuby; her son, William Adrian Zuby; and her granddaughter, Chelsea Lynn Morris. Throughout her life Eleanor enjoyed the company of her brothers and their families, with a special relationship with George and Helen Hohas and their children George, Richard, Joan and Marilyn and niece, Agatha “Aggie” Patrick.
She was blessed with many nieces and nephews, grandchildren and two great-grandchildren who reside throughout the States. She loved and cherished them (and often wished out loud that they were closer). She also was fond of her wonderful neighbors and often sat on the patio with them, enjoying iced tea with an endless supply of sweet and low in pink packages. Her great joy was reunions with her Chaney High School Class of ’49 at Denny’s in Austintown.
Eleanor specifically requested that no funeral viewings take place. If you wish, memorials can be made for the care of her great grandson Liam in the name of “Great Grama (GG)” at Go fund me: https://www.gofundme.com/eleanor-zubys-trust-for-greatgrandson-liam-morris
Professional arrangements were handled by Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.
