AUSTINTOWN - Services will be Wednesday at 10:00 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church in Youngstown for Eleanor Gwizdale age 87 of N. Raccoon Rd. formerly of Meridian Rd. who died suddenly Friday morning at her home. Eleanor was born June 28, 1917, in Youngstown, the daughter of Paul and Judita Antalik Textoris.
She had worked as a seamstress for the Moyers Coat factory, and later as a crane operator for the Republic Steel Corporation. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church where she had belonged to the choir, the ladies altar guild, the Tuesday prayer group, and had served on its church council. Besides being an active member of St. John's she also enjoyed participating in bible study at both Zion Lutheran Church, and Lord of Life Lutheran Church.
She also enjoyed sewing, crochet, traveling, and was an avid card player.
A loving mother and grandmother, Eleanor is survived by her daughter and son in law Eleanor "Ellie" and David Williford of Austintown, her grandson John-Michael Williford, her Godson Larry Sandy Kamoda, and their son Matthew of Austintown, her good friend and neighbor, Oweda Frederick of Austintown, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her husband John Frank Gwizdale whom she married November 27, 1943, died November 10, 2001, she was also preceded in death by a son John Paul Gwizdale, four sisters Susan Seid, Mary Steffanoff, Anna Kish, and Julia Kamoda, and three brothers, Paul, Andrew, and Stephen Textoris.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 Tuesday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, and for one hour prior to services Wednesday morning at St. John's Lutheran Church.
The family requests that material tributes take the form of donations to the St. John's Lutheran Church.
