CANFIELD — Edward Kuchik, 89, passed away Thursday, Aug. 15, 2024, at Hospice House.
He was born July 13, 1935, in McDonald to George and Anna Bayus Kuchik.
He was the youngest of six children. At a young age, his family moved to Girard, and he graduated from Girard High School in 1953.
He was employed by U.S. Steel in Girard, followed by Commercial Shearing and Stamping, and then went into construction (Youngstown Local 171) and installed acoustic tile in the commercial field.
In 1955, he met and fell in love with Maxine Luther, who was the heart of his world. They were married in 1959 and celebrated 65 years of marriage Feb. 7, 2024.
Ed loved the beauty of nature! His golfing buddies nicknamed him “Flowers” because he was always pointing out gorgeous flowers on the golf courses during the time he was able to golf. He loved sports and enjoyed scratch-off lottery tickets, which helped as a distraction during his long fight against cancer.
He will be dearly missed by his two children, Greg (Tia) Kuchik of Loveland and Karen (Mark) Sating of Fairview Park; three grandchildren, Chelsea (Parth) Lakdawala of Chicago, Illinois, Connor Kuchik (girlfriend Elise McKinney) of Loveland and Keira Kuchik, also of Loveland. He leaves his brother-in-law, Alton Williams of McDonald; nephew, Mark (Georgia) Wilson of Ellsworth; niece, Cynthia (John) Wright; and eight other nieces and nephews. Ed especially loved time spent with family. He also will be sadly missed by dear friends and wonderful neighbors. Ed leaves a sister, Anne (William) Perusek of Gainesville, Florida.
He lost his older brother during World War II, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge. Ed also was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Ann Wilson and Bette (Chuck) Shellogg.
A memorial service will be celebrated noon Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, 3701 Starr’s Centre Drive, where calling hours will be one hour prior to the service, beginning at 11 a.m.
