Edna Rodgers

d. February 13, 2005

Edna M. Rodgers 87, long time resident of Canfield, Ohio & daughter of James & Cecilia Haupt of Brookville, Pa. went home to be with the Lord on February 13th due to complications from pneumonia. Her death occurred at the Outlook Manor in , Ohio where she resided since the passing of her devoted husband, Jack, in February 2004. Edna was a graduate of Juniata College, in Huntington, Pa., where she met and married Jack in 1940.

In her early days in Canfield, Edna was a music teacher in the Canfield schools, gave private piano lessons, and served as organist for the First United Presbyterian Church of Canfield. Mrs. Rodgers was a charter member of the Canfield Women?s Club and served as president of the Salem Golf Club Women?s Association and walked the runway as a fashion model for Zack?s of East Liverpool and Calcutta, Ohio.

In her later years, she fell victim to Alzheimer?s disease which required that she be placed in various special care residential facilities in the Canfield area, and finally in Westerville, Ohio near her daughter, Carolyn Kip and family. She had enjoyed golf, bridge, needlework & rarely found a crossword puzzle she couldn?t master. When her affliction had claimed many of her abilities, her skills as an accomplished pianist remained with her until the final year of her life.

She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Kip and her husband Dr. Donald Dixon, her son Ed & his wife Dee of Hilton Head, SC. along with her 7 grandchildren, their spouses and 11 great-grandchildren. A memorial service for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, February 15th at the Xenos Christian Fellowship in Westerville, Ohio. On Wednesday February 16th, friends may call from 11:00am to 12:00pm at the Canfield Presbyterian Church on Main St. A prayer service will be held at 12:00pm followed by a luncheon in the fellowship hall of the church.

Edna?s children request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the ?Belarus Mission Project? c/o Perry Haupt Edna?s brother, 611 E 5th St. Bellwood, Pa 16617 or the Youngstown chapter of the Alzheimer?s Association.
