Dorene Mae Oakley, 91, passed away Wednesday at her home.
She was born on June 9, 1932 in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Dean A. and Edith Mae Cook Boop and wife of of the late, Richard R. Oakley, whom she married June 19, 1953 and lived her whole life in Youngstown.
Dorene was a graduate of The Rayen School and worked at Physicians and Hospital Credit Bureau and the accounting office of Truscon Steel Corporation.
She was a member of Richard Brown United Methodist Church for more than 70 years, a 30 plus year Sunday School Teacher, member of their chir, and active in the church's United Methodist Women, serving as Reading Program Director for over 30 years. An avid flower gardener, she maintained the flowers at the church for many years until her health forced her to cease, but still maintained a Devotional Table at the church.
Noted for her smiling disposition, she will be sadly missed by her three sons, Robert (Barbara) of Lexington, KY, Kenneth at home, and William (Lori) of Salt Lake City, UT; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a brother, John Boop of Warren.
Dorene was preceded in death by her husband Richard, who passed away on December 21, 2019; and two brothers, Dean and Theodore Boop.
Private Services will be held.
Professional arrangements are being handled by Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.
