BOARDMAN - Donald T. Weingart passed away on March 6, 2026, surrounded by his family.
He was born on March 7, 1945, in Youngstown, Ohio, a son of Donald S. Weingart and the former Veronica Thomcsak.
A West Sider, he graduated from Chaney High School in 1963. He attended Youngstown University until being drafted. He then enlisted in the the United States Navy, serving 4 years aboard the USS O”Hare. He did 2 world tours and served in Vietnam.
Upon his discharge, he married Kathleen “Kathy” Donatiello on Thanksgiving Day and was married for 56 years.
Don worked 10 years as a boiler maker for US Steel until its closing. He then worked for Fisher Body in Lordstown, Ohio for 26 years.
Don loved his younger years. He loved hunting over many states including “Out West”. He learned to play 7 instruments but his love was his bass guitar.
After retiring, his passion for the woods led him to cut branches from behind his house, where he began hand-burning and carving walking sticks and canes. These creations turned into gifts for his numerous friends and family, which he sent across the country. Their popularity grew so much that he started selling them at the Vietnam Wall in Washington DC. His favorite pieces were military canes. Additionally, he was a lifelong member of the VFW Post 4237 located in Austintown, Ohio.
The greatest joys of his life were his daughter, Dori. She blessed him with two beautiful sons. They became his life, the sons he never had. He and Dori became a team, crafting and building furniture and refinishing antique finds.
Don also enjoyed working out at the YMCA, playing cards, and going to casinos.
Donald is preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Michael and Kenneth; father and mother in laws, Rick and Lupe Donatiello.
In addition to his wife, Kathy, he leaves behind his beautiful daughter, Dorianne (Anthony Jr.) Campoli; two grandsons, Anthony and Santino Campoli; twin sisters, Mary Weingart of Riverside, CA; and Martha (Marty) Wilmitch, of Canfield; and two sister in laws, Christine Felleti and Marilyn Weingart.
Per Don’s request, a private Mass of Christian Burial was held at Holy Family Parish.
Don's family wishes to express their gratitude to the Cleveland Clinic Oncology, Mercy Health CHF Clinic and its doctors, the Hope Center of Boardman, and Southern Care Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel. Family and friends are invited to visit www.higgins-reardon.com to share memories and condolences.
