Donald Dobrindt

AUSTINTOWN-Services will be Friday at 10:00 AM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, and at 10:30 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for Donald E. Dobrindt age 75 of Marcia Dr. who died suddenly Tuesday morning of an apparent heart attack at St. Elizabeth E.R. after being stricken at his home.

Don was born November 12, 1928, in Youngstown, the son of Harry and Julia Landers Dobrindt. He had worked at the Youngstown Post Office while attending Youngstown College where he graduated with a degree in accounting. He had worked as an auditor for Earnst & Earnst for 8 years before taking the position of chief accountant and treasurer of Metal Carbides in Boardman for 23 years. He later worked at Jones Oxygen, and part time for Truck World. He also served in the Army during the Korean War. A member of the Saxon Club since 1974, he had served as its treasurer since 1992, and also served as director of the A.T.S. Bowling League. In recognition he was honored as the 2003 Saxon Club Man of the Year. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church where he was an usher, and treasurer of its senior citizen group. He had been active in Junior Achievement serving as a leader for over 10 years, and had coached in the Austintown Pony League.

His first wife the former Blanche Crish whom he married June 9, 1956, died January 11, 1977. He is survived by his wife the former Gloria Duva whom he married April 8, 1988, three daughters Elizabeth Chris Fening of Canfield, Catherine Mark Hurkamp of Annandale, Virginia, and Anita Bill Carroll of Austintown, a son Donald Dobrindt of Austintown, a sister Dorothy Dobrindt of Cyhahoga Falls, Ohio, eight grandchildren, Erin, Patrick and Kelly Fening, Max, Miles, and Alexa Hurkamp, and Lea and Anny Carroll.

He was also preceded in death by a brother Gerard Dobrandt.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 Thursday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.
Donations may be made to the Saxon Club Memorial Fund or Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish center Building Fund.
