YOUNGSTOWN - Dick L. Puz, 78, passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2025, in Youngstown, Ohio, surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born on May 17, 1947, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, to the late John E. Puz and Sophie J. (Wiech) Puz.

Dick was a graduate of Mohawk High School in Bessemer, PA. Shortly after graduating high school, he served his country with honor, having joined the Army on October 13, 1966, where he served in Korea.

On June 20, 1970, Dick married his beloved wife, Virginia (Ginny) Puz. Together, they created a loving home filled with laughter, warmth, and shared adventures.

Dick embarked on a career at General Motors, where he worked in outside maintenance and on the Hazmat Pad. He retired from GM, after 38 years.

He was an avid and successful hunter and fisherman. Most important to him was nurturing his love of the outdoors with his sons and grandchildren. He loved his garden. He was an active member and officer at Lake Milton Fish and Game Club. 

Dick was not only a devoted husband and father to his three sons, David (Heather), Gary (Cheryl), and Tom (Diana), but also a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren: Justin Burchfield, Kyle Puz, Anastasia Thomas, Dylan Puz, Ethan Puz, Adrian Puz, and Alyssa Hawes. He took great joy in his role as a grandfather and cherished the moments spent with his family, including nine great-grandchildren who will carry forward his legacy.

He is survived by his loving wife Virginia, sons, and siblings Dolores, Sandra, Lily, Michael, and Bobby. Dick was predeceased by his parents, his brother John Richard Puz, and grandson Dylan Puz, each of whom he held dear in his heart.

A visitation for Dick will be held Saturday, June 7, 2025, at St. Mary's Catholic Church located at 3504 S. Main St, Mineral Ridge, OH 44440, from 3:00PM to 4:45PM. A funeral mass will be held immediately following at 5:00PM at the church. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Lake Milton Fish and Game Club located at 4374 Bedell Rd, Berlin Center, OH 44401. 

Arrangements were handled by Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.
