David LeRoy Schnitz, 68, passed away on March 17, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital.
He was born on February 1, 1956 in Huntington, Indiana.
David graduated from Elgin High School in Elgin, IL. He was a skilled machinist throughout his career. David found joy in the simple pleasures of life; whether it was watching TV in his favorite chair, fishing by the serene waters, or attending NASACAR races and concerts with his best friend, Mark. He cherished moments spent with his beloved granddaughter and being referred to as ”Santa Dave” during his favorite holiday season, Christmas.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ruby C. Drost Schnitz, whom he married on July 23, 2016; daughters, Charity Schnitz (Thomas Abram) of Youngstown and Christina (Jasen) Pekalla of Liberty; step-daughter, Tammy Crowe of Mineral Ridge; his grandchildren, Aria, Dreylin, Svana, Gabriel, Katelyn and Austin; great-granddaughter, Liliana; mother, Martha Gamble Schmittler; two sisters, Debra (William) Mayotte of Huntington, IN and Cheryl (Charles) Pace of Huntington, IN; two brothers, Robert Schnitz of Fort Wayne, IN and Gary Schnitz of Belpre, OH.
He was preceded in death by his father, Calvin LeRoy Schnitz.
In this time of mourning, we remember David for the love he shared and the legacy of kindness he leaves behind. May he rest in peace.
There will be no services for David.
