David H. Pettit

YOUNGSTOWN - David H. Pettit, age 82, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026, at Briarfield at Ashley Circle with his sister, Debra Pettit by his side.

He was born on March 25, 1944, in Youngstown, Ohio, a son of David D. Pettit and Ann L. Pettit (nee Picciocchi).

David was a graduate of Austintown Fitch high school. He worked at Strouss in downtown Youngstown for over 15 years.

He was a warm-hearted and affectionate man who treated everyone with kindness, no matter how they treated him. He made friends wherever he went. David was known for his beautiful blue eyes and had an infectious smile that could light up any room. His laughter, unique and heartfelt, was a melody that echoed far and wide. David loved cooking. He had a passion for all kinds of food, particularly Italian. He especially enjoyed pizza, Pepsi, and Hershey bars. 

He found joy in attending the Javitt Center and later attended Active Day Adult Day Care in Austintown, where he formed cherished friendships. He had a love for music and he enjoyed singing and dancing in his younger years. A passionate sports fan, he followed his beloved Cleveland Browns and enjoyed watching football and basketball.

David is survived by his sister, Debra Ann Pettit, of Austintown; cousins, Saundra (Jim) Williams, Patricia Picciocchi, Vincent (Diane) Moretti Jr., Barbara Ann Moretti, Carolyn McCamon, Beverly Dick, and Judi Etheridge. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his infant sister, Dianne Pettit. A funeral service will be held at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, on May 15, 2026, at 5:30 PM, with calling hours preceding the service from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM.

David's family expresses their sincere gratitude to the staff at Briarfield at Ashley Circle and Ohio Living Hospice and for the care, compassion, and friendships he made.
