Darla J. Rodgers, passed away on May 7, 2026 at the age of 76 with the love of her family surrounding her.
Born on December 17, 1949, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late John and Julia Piekosinski Myers.
Darla graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and, over the years, cultivated a varied career, starting as a receptionist for Dr. Zehr, moving on to serve as a secretary for General Fireproofing, and ultimately retiring as a bank teller from Key Bank in 2014.
A longtime member of St. Catherine of Siena and St. Luke Church, Darla contributed her time as a dedicated volunteer, serving as a Eucharistic minister, making Kolachi at both Christmas and Easter, working Bingo and playing in their bocce league.
Darla found joy in the simple pleasures of life, believing you could never have too many bottles of nail polish or go anywhere without seeing someone you know. She loved to read and was a frequent visitor to the library. Darla enjoyed making crafts, and while her wreaths were never quite as good as "Perfect Patty's", she expressed love through the intricate detail of cross-stitching masterpieces. She enjoyed watching game shows and rarely missed an episode of The Price Is Right or Jeopardy. Darla was always up for playing a game such as Mexican Train Dominoes or cards - anything from 500 Bid to Triple Solitaire, to Go Fish or Old Maid with her nieces. Darla's neighborhood card clubs were a significant source of joy, bonding her with friends for decades.
An avid fan of the Cleveland Guardians, Darla enjoyed every opportunity to cheer for her team. Darla also had a good-natured appreciation for the excitement of playing the slots at the casino with her lifelong friends Marlene and Chris.
Darla is survived by her husband, Terry Rodgers, whom she married September 5, 1970; her daughter, Megan Rodgers of Brookfield; lots of "Favorite" nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her seven siblings, Mary Louise (Myers) Yonosik, Matilda "Tillie" (Myers) Samsonchick, Johnny Myers, Theresa (Myers) Cifalde, Julianne (Myers) Vrabel, Susanne (Myers) Smrek, and Stephen "BoBo" Myers.
Family and friends may pay their respects, Monday May 18 from 4 to 7 PM at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel, 2726 Center Road.
Prayers will be held on Tuesday May 19 at 9:15 AM at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Catherine of Siena Parish, St. Luke Church, 5235 South Avenue.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to Susan and Joe, Jeanne, Julie, Elio and Sue, Bob and Rose, Sherry and John, Lou & Chuck, Bev and Ed, Marilyn and Dennis, and Marilou and John for all of their help and support.
