PARRISH, FL - Daniel Stephen Mikus, 66, passed away April 29, 2024, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

Born October 4, 1957, in Youngstown, Daniel was the son of the late Steven Mikus and Georgina Buckles. A proud graduate of Chaney High School, he dedicated five years of service to the Marines as a Missiles Systems Operator and recruiter, earning an honorable discharge. Upon his return to civilian life, Daniel completed his training at the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) and embarked on a distinguished 33-year career as a police officer in the Youngstown Police Department, retiring in 2014. During his years of service, he furthered his education, earning a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Youngstown State University. Following his retirement, Daniel moved to Florida, where he continued his commitment to serving others as a security guard at Manatee Memorial Hospital.

An avid motorcycle enthusiast, Daniel found joy and camaraderie on the open road. He often led rides for his beloved motorcycle club, the West Coast Florida Riders, forging deep bonds of friendship with his fellow bikers. The club became an integral part of his life in Florida, providing a sense of belonging and shared passion that enriched his retirement years.

Daniel's kindness, charisma, and upbeat personality endeared him to all who knew him. He had a gift for entertaining others with stories from his vast life experiences and was always willing to lend an ear or offer advice to anyone in need.

Daniel's love for his grandchildren was immeasurable. He always made time for them, no matter what he was doing or what time it was. He also cherished his time with his dog Harley, taking him everywhere he could. Harley has since found a loving home with Daniel's son.

Daniel is survived by his son, Daniel (Kimberly) Mikus, and his grandchildren, Natalie and Naomi Mikus. He also leaves behind his stepdaughter, Gina Silvestri, and grandson, Chase Silvestri, as well as his stepson, Giovanni Silvestri. He is also survived by his stepmother, Jean Mikus, and his siblings, Mark (Tracie) Mikus, Diane (Gino) Greathouse, and Gigi Potts, and his nieces Alexis (Jordan) Bjerke and Samantha Potts.

He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, camaraderie, and unwavering support. His absence will be deeply felt by the countless friends he made throughout his vibrant life - friends who were drawn to his infectious smile, his genuine kindness, and his charismatic personality. Daniel's memory will forever be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him, for he touched their lives in ways that will never be forgotten.
