FOWLER — Claudia K. Hoover, 77, passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 28, 2025, at Austintown Healthcare.
Born on Feb. 7, 1948, in Youngstown, Claudia led a life filled with dedication and passion, particularly for teaching and her family.
Claudia devoted 34 years to the Wyndham School District as a home economics teacher, impacting the lives of countless students before her retirement. Her academic journey began with her graduation from Austintown Fitch High School, followed by earning both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Education from Youngstown State University.
Outside the classroom, Claudia was known for her incredible baking skills and her love for sewing. Claudia also had a passion for live music, particularly the sounds of Jimmy Buffet. She eagerly anticipated her yearly trips to the Canfield Fair, and cherished holidays spent with her family. In her later years, she developed an enthusiasm for watching horse racing, adding another layer of joy to her life.
Claudia’s family was paramount to her, and she leaves behind her son, Brian (Christi) Hoover of Wichita Falls, Texas; her sisters, Karen Carroll and Peggy Murray, both of Austintown; her brothers, Gary (Jenny) Sweeney of Salem and Tim Sweeney of Austintown; and several treasured nieces and nephews.
Claudia was preceded in death by her loving husband, John J. Hoover, whom she married on Dec. 31, 1970, and who passed away on Nov. 9, 2014; as well as her parents.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2025, at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home-Austintown Chapel, followed by a funeral service at 5 p.m.
