NORTH LIMA - Charles A. Palmer Jr. “Chuck”, 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on June 25th, 2026.
Chuck was born on September 2, 1952, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, to Charles and Mary Palmer. He graduated from New Castle High School with the Class of 1970, where he developed the strong work ethic, humility, and integrity that would guide him throughout his life.
In 1971, Chuck proudly enlisted in the Army National Guard, serving as a Wire Team Chief. He was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Battery (HHB), 1st Battalion, 229th Field Artillery, in New Castle, Pennsylvania. Chuck was proud of his military service and the opportunity to serve his country, carrying the values of duty, commitment, and teamwork with him throughout his life.
In 1975, Chuck married the love of his life, Debbie (Pagley). Together they built a beautiful life centered on faith, family, and unconditional love, sharing more than 50 wonderful years of marriage.
In 1982, Chuck began his career with Columbia Gas Transmission, where he worked faithfully for 35 years until he retired in 2017. He was known as a dependable, hardworking man who took pride in providing for his family and earned the respect of everyone who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Chuck and Debbie were blessed with three children: Jennifer (Keith) Stabi, Andrew (Molly) Palmer, and Cory (Jessica) Palmer, each of whom carried forward the values of hard work, kindness, and family that Chuck lived every day.
While he was a devoted husband and father, his favorite title was simply "POP." His eight grandchildren, Ava Stabi, Chloe Palmer, Madie Stabi, Mya Stabi, Austin Palmer, Jaxtin Stabi, Stella Palmer, and Dax Palmer, were the absolute center of his world.
Being “POP” wasn't just something he was called, it was who he was. There wasn't a soccer match, volleyball game, baseball game, basketball game, softball game, cheer competition, football game, or lacrosse match he wanted to miss. Rain or shine, home or away, if one of his grandchildren were playing, Pop was in the stands. His presence was constant, his encouragement unwavering, and his pride immeasurable. To his grandchildren, seeing Pop in the crowd meant everything. To Chuck, there was simply nowhere else he would rather be.
Chuck will be remembered for his quiet strength, his unwavering work ethic, his selflessness, and his ability to make those around him feel loved. He led by example, teaching that family always comes first, that hard work matters, and that showing up for the people you love is one of life's greatest gifts.
Although his family will miss his steady presence more than words can express, they find comfort in knowing that his legacy lives on in the lives of his children, his beloved grandchildren, and the countless memories they will forever cherish.
Anyone who knew Chuck knew he always had a funny catchphrase, a perfectly timed dad joke, or one of his signature sayings ready to brighten the day. He was famous for his hilarious Donald Duck voice, delighting his children and grandchildren every chance he got. Those moments of laughter became some of the family's favorite memories, and his humor, voice, and one-liners will continue to echo in their hearts for years to come.
A loving husband, devoted father, proud Pop, and faithful friend, Chuck leaves behind a family that was his greatest accomplishment and the greatest joy of his life. His love will continue to guide them, and his memory will forever live in their hearts.
Chuck will also be greatly missed by his sister-in-law, brother-in-law, three nephews, and many cousins and friends who he loved dearly.
Chuck was preceded in death by his father, Charles A. Palmer Sr., his mother, Mary Palmer, his father-in-law, Anthony Pagley, and mother-in-law, Pearl Pagley, and his trusty sidekick dog Bailey.
