Catherine Bandy

AUSTINTOWN-Services will be Monday at 10:00 AM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown and at 10:30 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for Catherine Elizabeth O'Neil Bandy age 81 of Canfield-Niles Rd., Austintown who died Thursday morning at her home after a brief illness. Catherine was born October 16, 1922, in Youngstown, the daughter of William and Mary Maher O'Neil. She had attended the Immaculate Conception School, was a 1940 graduate of Scienceville High School, and later graduated from St. Elizabeth School of Nursing.
She served in the U.S. Army nurse corps during W.W.II, as a First Luetendant. Among her other assignments, she served at Camp Campbell, Ky., and with the 20th General Hospital in Ledo, India.
She was a charter member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, and a member of its Altar and Rosary Society, and Senior Citizens Club.
She is survived by her husband Kenneth L. Bandy whom she married February 2, 1946, two daughters Elizabeth Warne Bandy Palmer of Howland, and Martha Thomas Bandy Brewer of Jacksonville, Fla., five sons, Kenneth W. Karen Bandy of Howland, James P. Jean Bandy of Westerville, Ohio, Christopher Becky Bandy of Alameda, California, George E. Sheila Bandy of Tallmadge, and Michael J. Dee Dee Bandy of Elmhurst, Ill., six grandsons, five granddaughters, and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, James, William, and John O'Neil, and a sister, Margaret Felton.
Friends may call from 4 PM to 8 PM Sunday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.
