Bonnie Riley

June 23, 1942 — December 9, 2004

Petersburg -- Services will be at 10:00 A.M Monday at St. Paul the Apostle Church, New Middletown for Bonnie K. Riley, age 62, of Petersburg who died Thursday at her residence after a long illness.
Bonnie was born June 23, 1942 in Baltimore, Ohio, a daughter of James and Olive Trimmer Shimp and came to this area from Dayton in 1970. She was 1960 graduate of Watkins Memorial High School and graduated with honors in 1995 from Y.S.U with a degree in Applied Business. She was employed as a secretary at the New Middletown Elemetary School and later as a secretary in the Athletic Dept. at Y.S.U. In December of 2003 she retired from Y.S.U as a Administrative Assistant in the Human Resources Dept.
She was a member of the church and sang in the choir. In 1971 she served as secretary of Springfield Local P.T.A and as president in 1972.
She leaves her husband John, whom she married Oct. 16, 1960; her stepmother, Viola Shimp of Reynoldsburg; three sons, Bill Ruth Riley of New Springfield, brad Vicki Riley of Homeworth, Oh., and Bryan Kalana Riley of Thetford, england; a brother Bob Dee Shimp of Cicero, Ind.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She also leaves her Aunt Lois Garey of Baltimore, Ohio, who was he life-long mentor.
Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Sunday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland, Chapel.
The family requests contributions to be made to Hospice of the Valley or the American Cancer Society.
