AUSTINTOWN — Betty Barwick, 92, died on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2025.

She was born on Jan. 23, 1933, in Morgantown, W.Va., a daughter of Felix Metheny and Violet Sprague Metheny. 

Betty was a graduate of West Virginia University High School, where she played the slide trombone in the band. 

She worked as a chef at Mr. B’s Catering, which later became Charly’s Family Restaurant. 

Betty was renowned for her generosity and her ability to feed everyone who entered her home. Sundays were special in the Barwick home, where family and friends gathered to enjoy her delicious meals.

Betty raised funds for numerous charitable organizations, with UNICEF holding a special place in her heart. She was very involved with the Wedgewood Park EC Church in Youngstown, where she served as choir director. 

As a talented seamstress, Betty enjoyed creating beautiful robes and sewing clothing for her children.

Betty is survived by her sons, William B. Barwick and Franklin W. Barwick; daughters, Betty (Dave) Campana, Jean (John) Schaefer, Diana Barwick, Nannette (Dave) McKnight, Audrey (Dave) MacDonald and Linda (Ron) Raubenstraw; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, William Barwick; son, Daniel C. Barwick; brother, George Metheny; and grandson, Corey Barwick. 

Betty will be buried in Brunstetter Cemetery.
