Arthur Marchiori

Youngstown - Services will be Friday at 9:30 AM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, and at 10:00 AM at St. Michael Church for Arthur Marchiori age 96 of Canfield formerly of Youngstown who passed away Monday evening.
Arthur was born May 15, 1908, in Crenshaw, PA, the son of John and Orscerena Marchiori. He came to this area in 1925 from PA.
He served in the U.S. Army 69th Tank Battalion during W.W.II earning bronze stars, and a purple heart for his service. He was the owner operator of Warren Tile and Marble for over 30 years working with numerous area contractors on residential, and commercial rojects including local churches and hotels. He retired in 1985. As a member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local # 8 he was recently presented an award for his 75 years of membership. He was a member of St. Michael Church, and had been a charter member of St. Christine Church.
He had been a member of the First Catholic Slovak Union, and the Jednota Lodge. Arthur was also an avid golfer, golfing in several leagues including the Mill Creek Senior Golf League, and had also bowled in Leagues at both Camelot, and Amaron Lanes.
His wife of over 50 years the former Bertha Ondash whom he married October 6, 1945, died in 1997.
He is survived by a daughter Jean and husband Richard Nye of Canfield, two sisters, Agnes Marchiori of Dayton, Ohio, and Helen O'Donnell of Austintown, two brothers, Ed Marchiori of Boardman, and Vince Marchiori of Youngstown, three grandchildren Karri Verratti, Stacy Tessena, and David Nye, and six great-grandchildren, Kensie, Krew, and Kade Verratti, Cole and Baily Tessena, and Ellerie Nye.
Besides his wife he was preceded in death by three sisters, Louise Panozzo, and Sr. Josephine, and Sr. Frances Marchiori of the Society of St. Joseph, and a brother Alfred Marchiori.
Friends may call from 4 PM to 8 PM Thursday evening at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel.
