AUSTINTOWN — Alfred Handzlik, 91, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
He was born Jan. 27, 1934, in the country of Poland. Alfred immigrated to the United States as a teenager, where he began his long career in the steel industry, having spent 30 years at Republic Steel, which later became LTV Steel.
Outside of work, he had a passion for fishing, enjoyed following his favorite football team, the Cleveland Browns, and loved playing cards. Alfred cherished moments spent at the park with his dogs alongside his wife, particularly enjoying the scenery at Austintown Park. He took pride in maintaining his home and found satisfaction in yard work and cutting grass.
Alfred is survived by his wife, the former Marion Harahuc; son, Gary (Mary) Handzlik of Cortland; sister, Christine Ciccone of Sharon, Pa.; grandchildren, Jessica (Allen) Rothrock and Tyler Handzlik; great-grandson, Shane Rothrock; and nephews, Jim (Jean) Ciccone, Paul (Gwynn) Harahuc and Michael Harahuc.
In addition to his parents, Alfred was preceded in death by his brother, Walter, and his brother-in-law, Jim Ciccone.
Funeral services are private. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.
