Paul Vinkler

BOARDMAN - Prayers will begin Thursday at 10:15 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Church, for Paul P. Vinkler, 90, who died Sunday evening at Shepherd of the Valley.

Paul was born Jan. 31, 1926, in Youngstown, the son of John and Mary (Lipay) Vinkler.

He was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and attended Youngstown State University. Paul served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was proud to have witnessed the rising of the flag at Iwo Jima. He worked as a general foreman in the mechanical department at Republic Steel and retired after 32 years. Paul also worked in the physical plant at YSU for 12 years. Paul was a member of St. Charles Church, Republic Steel Foremen's Retirees and Public Employee Retirees.

He leaves his wife, the former Delores J. Stanislaw, whom he married May 26, 1951; a son, David (Ann) Vinkler of Punta Gorda, Fla.; six daughters, Adele McGowan of Oakton, Va., Paula (Daniel) Harmon of Cincinnati, MaryKay (Ralph) Kolasinski of Parma Heights, Eileen (Vincent) Coleman of Chagrin Falls, Rebecca (Mathew) Harty of Powell, and Amy Kelly of Powell; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Paul was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Moore, Mary Cellio and Martha Zouck; and three brothers, James, John and Leonard Vinkler.

Family and friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, material tributes take the form of donations to St. Charles Church, 7325 Westview Drive, Boardman, OH 44512.
